Neurodivergent Affirming Practice
Being Neurodivergent is not something to be “fixed”. Neurodivergent Affirming therapy steers away from social expectations to think and act to what may be presented as neurotypical, especially where doing so causes distress & harm. It aims for the person to explore their neurodivergent identity and find their own unique strengths. As a development within the social disability movement, it is also a doorway for a client to understand they are part of a community and a culture.

The Geek Therapy Affinity-Based Approach acknowledges these as part of your identity. These can be incorporated in ways that provide validation, a sense of safety and a familiar language for expressing difficult emotions.
