Acknowledgement Of Country
I acknowledge the lands on which I operate on is the traditional lands for the Kaurna & Peramangk people and that I respect their spiritual relationship with their Country. I also acknowledge the Kaurna and Peramangk people as the custodians of these regions and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living people today. I pay respects to the cultural authority of First Nations people from other areas of South Australia/Australia that I encounter in this work.
About Hive Minds Therapy
Jonathan Breach (he/him)
Just as I am looking forward to getting to know you and how we might be able to collaborate, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about myself.
I came to Counselling and Narrative Therapy Practice after long corporate careers in the wine and pharmaceutical industry. While these may seem very odd progressions, there has been many unexpected overlaps.
I have held diverse roles in healthcare including the trialing & regulation of medicines for pain, addiction, psychiatry, epilepsy and over-the-counter, and undertook formal qualifications in Western herbal medicine.
The shift to the wine industry allowed me to draw on my phytotherapy knowledge, and experiences in regulation / government advocacy. Something that was profoundly new was being involved in an industry embedded with deep stories & heritage, multigenerational relationships between regional grape grower and winemaking families that embody multicultural Australia. Also of great importance was their delicate relationship with small communities, the land & a rapidly changing climate. All this brought to the fore the difficult mental health burdens experienced by many living in farming communities.
My own late-aged diagnosis of ADHD in my 40’s was the catalyst for becoming the counselling resource I struggled to find as a new late-age discovered member of the neurodivergent community.
I have long had a strong drive for creative expression from being a musician, writer, table-top RPG games master and bibliophile, and believe the arts & mental health have a critical symbiotic relationship.
